Sydney Sharkey
Operations Volunteer
Sydney believes recovery is possible for every individual when given the proper resources. She has seen the real impact that the tireless work of Project HEAL’s team and board has on struggling individuals' lives.
Sydney is passionate about Project HEAL because she believes in the organization’s mission and feels strongly that the topic of eating disorders needs broader discussion. Additionally, Sydney understands the importance of challenging the media’s perception of eating disorders and correcting the stereotypical image of someone struggling with an eating disorder.
Sydney constantly seeks new ways to spread awareness of support resources and to raise funds for Project HEAL. In her free time, she can be found playing with her four dogs or working through math problems, which, though sometimes challenging, are good practices for Sydney to recognize various patterns through repetition.
In addition to her work with Project HEAL, Sydney is a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and recently received her Rescue Squad’s Outstanding Cadet award, an honor given to one member ages 14-17 who exemplifies the organization’s mission and is committed to serving the community.
Sydney is currently a junior in a New York-area high school and is always looking for opportunities to support Project HEAL and other volunteer groups she supports.
Sydney’s favorite ice cream flavor is cookie dough!
