CLINICAL ASSESSMENT
Free, impartial, culturally-competent, and compassionate assessments.
Project HEAL provides free, impartial, culturally-competent, and compassionate 1-hour phone assessments to anyone in the U.S. who believes they (or their child) might have an eating disorder.
What is the Clinical Assessment Program?
Project HEAL provides free, one-hour phone or video assessments for individuals who believe they (or their child) might have an eating disorder. After the assessment, recipients receive a comprehensive 8+ page report that includes:
✔️ A diagnosis (if applicable)
✔️ Treatment recommendations
✔️ Referrals to specialized providers
✔️ Enrollment options for other Project HEAL programs, if eligible
Is a Clinical Assessment Right for You?
This program may be a good fit if:
✅ You have never received an official eating disorder diagnosis or it has been years since your last one
✅ You need help but don’t know where to start
✅ You’re unsure which level of care is appropriate for you
✅ You need an official assessment before beginning treatment
For individuals aged 12-17, parental/guardian consent is required unless state laws allow minors to consent to their own mental health treatment.
Why Access to Diagnosis Matters
Receiving an eating disorder diagnosis is often the first step toward healing, but access to diagnosis is a privilege. Research shows that eating disorders frequently go undiagnosed, particularly in:
BIPOC communities
Fat
Trans individuals
Disabled individuals
Low-income individuals
Undocumented individuals
Project HEAL is committed to breaking these barriers and ensuring that everyone—regardless of background—can access an accurate diagnosis and proper care.
