14 Days of HEALing: Celebrating Project HEAL’s 14th Birthday

May 1st - 14th 2022

This year, Project HEAL is excited to be celebrating 14 years of operation - or our 14th Birthday, as we like to call it. In May 2008, Liana Rosenman and Kristina Saffran - two teenagers who met in treatment for their own eating disorders - founded a nonprofit called Project HEAL in response to the inequities in access to treatment they had witnessed firsthand. What started as a passion project has become one of the leading eating disorder nonprofits in the U.S. providing direct service, education, research and advocacy for thousands of people a year.

This past year has been difficult in so many ways for our community - between the ongoing pandemic, the surging mental health crisis, and the commonplace experience of disparity and discrimination in healthcare for so many.

In this light, we offer 14 Days of HEALing: two weeks of care for our community, a celebration of the possibility of healing, a recognition of everyone who has taken (or wants to take) a step towards eating disorder healing and a chance to say “thank you” to our supporters who have helped Project HEAL make a true difference in thousands of lives.

We are delighted to be partnering for this celebration with The Recovery Collective. The Recovery Collective is a global eating disorder recovery community focused on providing equitable access to education, resources, and support to those living with eating disorders. Each month, their members gather for live virtual events, including educational workshops, group coaching, gentle yoga, dietitian-led Nourish and Learn sessions, peer support, journaling, and meditation. In 2020, The Recovery Collective was founded to address feelings of disconnection folks with eating disorders experienced during the pandemic. Since then, it's been their mission to build a healing community that fosters connection. They can proudly say that the community has grown into more than what we thought was possible, connecting those who seek healing to top professionals and voices in the field.

Meg McCabe, Co-Founder of The Recovery Collective, said, “We firmly believe that connection is a powerful way to break free from one's eating disorder and HEAL. We are so grateful to be partnering with Project HEAL to celebrate their 14th birthday and the possibility of healing each day. Thank you to everyone who is joining us as we embark on this two week journey together!”

From May 1st - 14th, we have a variety of activities and events you can participate in, all in the hopes of raising $14,000 for 14 years of Project HEAL!
