Sejal Hathi, 25 years old, is the cofounder & global ambassador of Girltank, a global enterprise that connects, funds, and trains female social entrepreneurs in 6 continents. Previously, she served as Founding Partner of S2 Capital, a venture fund investing equity and debt in entrepreneurs under the age of 30 in the developing world — focusing specifically on its healthcare and gender equity portfolios. Most recently, Sejal completed a 2-year term as the only under-30 member of the World Health Organization’s Expert Review Group for Women’s and Children’s Health, a body of 9 individuals appointed by the UN Secretary-General to evaluate and report on progress toward women’s, children’s and adolescents’ health goals globally. She has served as a USA Ambassador to Ashoka, a “For Girls in Science” Ambassador to L’Oreal USA, an Innovation Advisor at the U.S. Small Business Administration, and an adviser on youth development and women and girls to the U.S. State Department, UNESCO (U.S. National Commission), Indiaspora (Board), Youth Service America (Board), the World Bank (YDP Network Board), Girls for a Change (Board), and State Farm Insurance (Board).
Sejal has spoken at TEDWomen, the World Health Assembly, and the United Nations, among other venues; and has been named a Forbes 30 Under 30 Honoree, a World Economic Forum Global Shaper, a Harry S. Truman Scholar, one of Newsweek’s “150 Women Who Shake the World,” a National Jefferson Award winner, a United States Presidential Scholar, a Paul & Daisy Soros Fellow, one of CNN’s Young People Who Rock, and one of Glamour Magazine’s Young Women of the Year for her work. A published author and Yale Global Health Fellow, Sejal graduated from Yale University with a B.S. in Molecular, Cellular, & Developmental Biology. She is currently a 4th-year MD & MBA candidate at Stanford University.
