Project HEAL’s “Teen Activists” are interns and volunteers who want to make an impact toward reversing the eating disorders epidemic in society. They understand the dangers of eating disorders and want to see those suffering able to get the help they need. They also want to educate girls, guys, men, & women to be confident and be happy with their self-image! Check out the Teen Activists below to read about their current projects. If you would like to get involved with any of these projects, you can email the Teen Activist directly.

Dragana
Hi, I’m Dragana. I’m 17 (soon to be 18!) and I’m a senior at Saint Francis Prep. I’m a grant writer at Project Heal, and I also help with fundraising. Project HEAL is so important because it brings peoples’ attention to eating disorders; eating disorders are such a problem, and, unfortunately, many motivated individuals are unable to get help. I think Project HEAL is so special and so important because it gives people their life back and spreads awareness about the dangers of eating disorders. There’s no reason anyone should think that not eating for “just a week” is an effective way to lose weight. Everyone is beautiful, and I’m so proud to be part of an organization that spreads such a great message.

Hi! My name is Melina and I am 18 years old. I am in my first year at Barnard College, a liberal arts school of Columbia University. I am the media and marketing fundraising co-chair of this amazing organization. What made me desire to advance the Project HEAL cause is the unfortunate fact that so many people are uncomfortable in their own skin. They constantly target themselves and condition themselves to believe that they are not good enough. This pressure can consume their lives and lead to self-harm.Since my joining, I have learned that dedication goes a long way. When people recognize that they need assistance and are willing to put all of themselves into getting better, recovery is truly possible. Project HEAL has big dreams and has grown astronomically since its foundation. I feel honored to be a contributor.

Hey! I’m Esther, I’m 16 years old and a junior at Great Neck North High School. I’m currently the head of Project HEAL’s new Parent Network and loving every second of it. The work we do at Project HEAL is very dear to me, because I have seen first hand the negative and self mutilating actions girls do, in result of trying to achieve “perfection”. At Project HEAL we believe the pressure to be perfect is far outweighed, by the power of love and acceptance of ones self. I’m looking forward to see Project HEAL grow, and to continue spreading this message.

Hi! I am Jenna Vitolo. I am 19 years old and am a student at Belmont University. I am currently the Project HEAL Public Relations Chair. Project HEAL is so important to me, because I know what it’s like to struggle with myself and my body. I feel as if it is my personal duty to be apart of an organization that fills girls with hope and healing. With Project HEAL we can change society’s view of body image and help others to accept and love their bodies just as Project HEAL has taught me.

I’m Danielle. I’m seventeen and a senior at Townsend Harris High School. I am a Teen Activist as well as the Research and Policy Chair for Project HEAL. I love everything about Project HEAL and I’m honored to be a part of the team. Project HEAL is important to me because it encourages me every day to love myself and embrace my imperfections; society should not define beauty – it’s up to us to love ourselves! I think it’s so important to stand up for a cause that affects the lives of so many young women in this generation, and Project HEAL is helping every day to make a difference.
