Project HEAL Promotes Recovery Through Art

Jessica Jurinich for Project HEAL

Tina

Hello all! My name is Christina Zapata, I am nineteen years old and was born and raised in New Jersey. I guess you can say I’m a true “Jersey Girl” but my heart has always been in NYC. ;) I will live there someday! I am currently the Co-Founder of the New Jersey Chapter of Project HEAL and I could not be more honored or pleased to have the opportunity to be so! Project HEAL is very close to my heart, I am recovered from and a survivor of an eating disorder. I accept and even embrace myself the way I am now. I am grateful for my life and for the one body I have to live it. I want to help other girls see that recovery IS possible as IS happiness. There’s a light at the end of the tunnel. You just have to keep your focus, and you’ll get there! I never thought I’d be able to be the kind of girl that could accept herself, and now through Project HEAL’s New Jersey Chapter, not only am I able to do that, but I also have the amazing opportunity to help others reach that same goal. I am so unbelievably honored. Stay Strong! Read Tina’s Story…

Jessica

Hi! I’m Jessica Jurinich, co-founder of Project HEAL’s New Jersey Chapter. I am 24 years old and studying Clinical Social Work with the goal of being a therapist specializing not only in eating disorders but co-occurring disorders as well. As an eating disorder survivor, the work I do with Project HEAL is incredibly close to my heart; recovery is possible and through your contributions, Project HEAL helps others begin their journey to recovery. Project HEAL is an extraordinary resource to raise awareness, promote positive body image, and bring attention to the stigmas surrounding eating disorders and society’s pursuit of thinness. Powerful changes have already occurred. Your support and voice can assist in these changes. I am honored to be a part of Project HEAL and I look forward to amazing things to come.
