Jory Mullard is the founder of the Vancouver Canada chapter of Project HEAL. In her early twenties, Jory suffered from an eating disorder that she hid from everyone. She kept the appearance that everything in her life was great, when it really wasn’t. She wants everyone to know that it’s ok to not be ok, and that it’s important to speak up when you are struggling & need help. Today, Jory is a writer & nutritionist. She advocates for everyone, everywhere, to love and accept themselves. Her message to the world is this: You are enough, just as you are.
A message from Cassandra: Throughout much of my young adult life I struggled with disordered eating, low self esteem and negative body image. I thought it was normal for someone my age. This continued until several years ago when I decided that I wanted to become a registered massage therapist. I recognized that in order to better help facilitate my patients’ healing, I had some healing to do myself. I had wanted to feel better for some time but this was my tipping point. It took a long time and a lot of work but through positive affirmations, amazing guidance and gratitude exercises I finally can acknowledge that I am valuable. I look in the mirror and feel beautiful. I now know that while these destructive emotions and behaviors are common, they are not normal. I believe that the best way to take power away from something that once had a negative hold on you is to use your experience to help others so that they don’t make the same mistakes as you. That is why I volunteer with Project HEAL.
