Project HEAL New Jersey Chapter was founded in 2011 by Jessica Jurinich and Tina Zapata. To date the NJ Chapter has raised over $25,000 for the “Help to HEAL” Scholarship Fund, Project HEAL’s main scholarship fund which provides individuals struggling with an eating disorder with life-saving treatment that he/she otherwise could not afford and insurance would not cover. The New Jersey Chapter hosts a series of small fundraising and awareness events including donation-based yoga and group fitness classes, holiday card making events, participation in walks and runs, and social gatherings and events. Co-Founder Jessica Jurinich stepped down in 2014, and the current co-leaders are Co-Founder Tina Zapata and long-time volunteer Amanda Parker. Under this leadership, the NJ Chapter has become heavily involved in the National East Coast Gala, held annually in NYC, as well as other projects including Project HEAL’s first filmed and aired Public Service Announcement, and Amanda was recently appointed to the National Junior Advisory Board. Please contact Tina Zapata and Amanda Parker for more information on the New Jersey chapter as well as speaking opportunities by email at: newjersey@theprojectheal.org
